TEST of ASUS G71GX

Labels:

Once you have unpacked the G71GX, cut his fiery design instantly catches the eye. Red faces alternate with shiny black and matte black surfaces in the honeycomb pattern. A clear line management provides a clear contrast. Moreover, "finish" a blue-lit "Republic of Gamers" logo, a blue-framed touchpad and blue flashing strips on the outer edge of the display lid is in itself striking enclosure. Many expected the design too gaudy and be playful, but we liked it very well. Reason: Asus set (other than on many picture suggests) a rather dark red, and the diverse (with time added annoying) lighting elements can be largely deactivated. Taking the G71GX then in hand, the high initial impression, however, quickly dissipated. Almost the entire housing is made of plastic, although it must benefit from Asus that this is only when touching the G71GX notice. The processing, however, is good, especially the display is very stable. Only the area around the Blu-Ray drive bends slightly when the lower left corner of the notebook increases.

Two things we have in addition to the disrupted processing: on the one hand, the transition between the top and side surfaces with a slightly sharp and hard edge. Read the other hand, the right of the two brackets that fix the lid, without pressing the corresponding button closure and without much effort from the lever housing. Since the housing, as I said, but two such brackets has remained the top in spite of this defect is always closed. The hinges are sturdy and the laptop when opening swings due to its high weight of 4170 grams with. This makes the hinges with some slight squealing Knarzen and the center of attention.
